About

This half-day online course is designed for primary care staff who may be asked to act as a chaperone during intimate examinations. Based on current GMC, RCN, NHS England and CQC guidance, it gives delegates the practical knowledge and confidence to chaperone safely and effectively, protect patients, support healthcare professionals and maintain dignity and trust.

Topics include:
  • The role and responsibilities of a chaperone
  • Intimate examinations, consent and patient dignity
  • Safeguarding patients and supporting healthcare professionals
  • Inclusive and culturally sensitive practice
  • Record-keeping and reporting concerns

Tracey Scarth is a Nurse Practitioner, university lecturer, and healthcare educator with extensive experience in primary care, respiratory nursing, and clinical education. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), she is passionate about developing and delivering engaging, evidence-based education that supports healthcare professionals in enhancing their knowledge, skills, and clinical practice. Her interests include respiratory care, professional development, and innovative approaches to healthcare education.
