About

This training is for healthcare professionals wishing to join a participatory educational event considering some of the challenges in patients staying healthy while travelling. Travel Health is an interesting subject because it is rapidly changing due to the global scope and diversity of risk. The workshop offers healthcare professionals the recent guidance and national recommendations while aiming to build their confidence in clinical practice.

We will be looking at:

  • The role of healthcare professionals in travel health
  • Resource signposting
  • Risk Assessment
  • International Health Regulations
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Vector Borne Diseases such as Yellow Fever and Malaria
  • Prevention Advice
  • Safeguarding within a Travel Consultation

Learners will be equipped to be able to offer the best advice to travellers, as well as being able to signpost themselves and travellers to the latest guidelines.

The day will be of benefit to all experienced travel health practice nurses and serve as a good annual update.

NB: The RCN (2023) published updated guidance on “the current guidelines and standard of care of travellers”.  Click here to access the RCN web page and their document, “Competencies: Travel health nursing: career and competence development”:
