Receptionists are often the patient’s first contact and are the gatekeepers to the clinicians. Non-Clinical staff cannot triage and are not medically trained, but they can assist in ensuring the patient is seen in an appropriate timeframe.
They play an important role in assigning patients to the most appropriate level of care at the right time. This course is for reception and administration staff who have some experience with care navigation/reception.
Changes in the way our receptionists now work, requires them to be skilled and confident to sensitively ascertain the nature of the patient’s need and exploring with them, safe and appropriate options. This includes recognising "Red Flag symptoms" which require urgent medical attention.
