This half day course is open to all Health Care Providers (HCPs) who are currently working with patients that require regular vitamin B12 injections. It is a prerequisite that the student has already completed the “core training for immunisations” prior to attending this course.

The course will explore the disease process of Pernicious Anaemia before discussing treatments and on-going management. Discussion will focus on the legal frameworks for injectable medicines and examples will be shared to include a competency framework for completion with an Assessor in practice.

• What are the side effects/contraindications/follow up care/ anaphylaxis

• Refresh requirements for HCAs in extended practice
